CNMI EVS-TAP Program Suspended for PRC Nationals
TITLE: CNMI EVS-TAP Program Suspended for PRC Nationals
WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Homeland Security is suspending the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Economic Vitality & Security Travel Authorization Program (EVS-TAP). EVS-TAP allowed pre-screened (checked in advance) nationals of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to travel to the CNMI without a visa (official permission to enter) for temporary visits under specified conditions. The suspension takes effect October 30, 2026.
WHO IT AFFECTS: Pre-screened PRC nationals who use, or planned to use, EVS-TAP to travel to the CNMI without a visa.
WHAT TO DO NOW:
1. If your CNMI travel is planned on or after October 30, 2026, know that EVS-TAP will be suspended.
2. Do not rely on EVS-TAP for travel on or after that date.
3. Ask an immigration attorney if you need a visa or another travel authorization.
