ICE Proposes Fee Increase for Form I-246 (Stay of Deportation)

TITLE: ICE Proposes Fee Increase for Form I-246 (Stay of Deportation)

WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has proposed raising the fee for Form I-246, Application for a Stay of Deportation or Removal, from $155 to $755. This is only a proposal — it is not a final rule yet.

WHO IT AFFECTS: Immigrants who need to ask U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a "stay" (a temporary pause) of their deportation or removal.

WHAT TO DO NOW:

- If you file Form I-246 today, the fee is still $155. Do not pay the new amount.

- This is a proposed change. Check the source link below for updates about when and if it becomes final.

- Talk to an immigration attorney if you are worried about your case or need help with a stay request.
