TITLE: USCIS Fee Correction Published July 21 – No New Rules

WHAT HAPPENED: The government fixed a mistake in an immigration fee rule that first came out on April 29, 2026. This correction adds back some regulatory words that were accidentally removed. It does not create new fees or change the rules that already took effect.

WHO IT AFFECTS: People who pay fees for asylum applications (Form I-589), certain types of employment authorization (work permits), or a new Form I-94 fee. (Form I-94 is an Arrival/Departure Record; the April 29 rule added a fee for getting it in some situations.) If you are affected, this correction simply makes the rule complete.
